Hawkestone Gardeners

The Hawkestone Gardeners is a community group dedicated to beautifying Hawkestone, educating ourselves about gardening and native plants, and hosting fundraising workshops in support of the  Hawkestone Community Hall.

This group is open to all and there is no cost to join. Experienced gardeners, as well as those who would like to learn, are encouraged to join. Meeting times are geared to the availability of members.

This group of gardeners began in the spring of 2023 and has gained membership along the way. In our first six months we have had some very successful events and projects:  the creation of the Children’s Pollinator Garden at the hall; the Children’s Container Garden Workshop; a Plant Sale at the yard sale in June; a Plant and Bake Sale at the Canada Day festivities; Hanging Baskets and Herb Planters at the Hall.

The group’s main goals are to have fun, to fellowship amongst all levels of gardeners and those who love gardens, and to promote native plant gardening. We have informal get-togethers at member’s gardens. In the future we hope to host garden tours for the public and a variety of garden-related and native plant workshops, to develop nature trails within Hawkestone and to hold educational visits to community member’s gardens. For any newcomers to Hawkestone, we hope this will provide resources to know what to grow in this region.
